Health Insurance

USPSCs who purchase a health insurance plan on the open market are entitled to reimbursement of 72% of their premiums, up to a maximum of $7,266 per year for individuals and $20,339 for families. USPSCs who obtain health insurance coverage via their spouse or partner's employer are not eligible for reimbursement. USPSCs who have health insurance coverage as a USG retiree or veteran are also ineligible for reimbursement.

Note: Dental and vision insurance are not reimbursable for USPSCs. If your health insurance plan includes dental and/or vision coverage, USAID will request from you an itemized invoice so those portions of the plan are excluded from the 72% reimbursement.

One option for most USPSCs is the group plans offered by Bowman Gaskins - one for domestic USPSCs and another for overseas USPSCs. USPSCs on intermittent contracts (e.g., "surge support" or "bullpen" contracts) are ineligible for these group plans, however. All USPSCs may also elect to purchase any individual health insurance plan.

Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance

Short- and long-term disability insurance is not reimbursable by USAID, but many USPSCs choose to purchase policies anyway.
